Apple Picking for Tyler's 1st Birthday

Happy Birthday Tyler! This year on your birthday Dad's friends from college visited and we all went apple picking. You really enjoyed eating your own apple and choking on apple skins! Next year you will be much better at that.

You also have the same birthday as Dad's good friend, Dan Osman. Who showed you the finer point of apple picking.

Daisy and Kenzie

We dog-sat our friends Kate and Erik's dog, Daisy this past weekend. We had a lot of fun. Kenzie loved having a pal to run around with and Tyler really enjoyed playing with a dog that he couldn't hurt! This is what they did most of the weekend, though.

Tyler enjoyed the slide at the park. His hair enjoyed it too...

Passport Photo Fun

We just realized that I (Dan) would need to renew my passport because it's been ten yrs (10!) since my first international trip (outside of Canada) with the family. Well, now going to Canada actually does require a valid passport, and as Jen and I are planning to head up to Montreal this fall, now is the time to get this done. So, being somewhat handy with the camera, I've taken my passport photo myself.

My old passport photo circa May 1999. This is me after just completing freshman year at Skidmore.

Accidental image, but it works.

The final selection.

NYC for Liz's Wedding

Jen and I had a great time in NYC this weekend as always. We stayed with Kevin and Shelly who were gracious enough to put up with Kenzie and Tyler for the weekend. They even watched the boys while we attended Liz and Ketan's wedding in the city. We caught up with our old friends Pam and Liz at the reception. Lots of fun!

Old Ironsides

We had a great week with our friend Shannon visiting and we got to do a little sight-seeing in Boston. Old Ironsides was fun despite the 95° weather. We even ran into Brian and Freddie who were heading back from the Children's Museum with our nephews, Andrew and Isaac. They weren't really sure who we were as you can tell in this picture...

He Walks!

Tyler took his first steps on August 9. I was watching Tyler while Jen was upstairs taking a shower and as he was playing he nonchalantly walked from one couch to the next. I was one proud dad. He did it a few more times and then I captured this video. He's walking quiet regularly now, sometimes up to 10 steps, although he still prefers to crawl usually. Sorry for the sideways video...

Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum

Jen and I took a quiet Sunday afternoon to head over to the Isabell Stuart Gardner Museum and check out some of the wonderful artwork that is on display. We particularly enjoyed Rembrandt's self-portrait and John Sargant's portrait of Isabella and his magnificent El Jaleo. With Tyler and the stroller it was a bit tricky but it was fun nevertheless.

After the museum we took a walk past the MFA and into the Fenway, part of Boston's Emerald Neckless, where we found a beautiful rose garden.
